Poached Egg Timer
For the vortex believers, the still-water minimalists, and the bag-poach pragmatists.

Pick your method
Vortex (classic)
Spin the water, drop egg in the eye of the storm.

Still water
No vortex. Lower egg gently. For multi-egg batches.

Egg ring / mold
Silicone ring or metal cookie cutter to keep shape.

Cling film bag
Egg in oiled plastic wrap, tied off, dropped in.

Tips for vortex (classic)
→ Water at a bare simmer — not rolling.
→ Add 1 tbsp white vinegar per quart. It helps the white set.
→ Crack the egg into a small cup first, then slide it in.
